Who are Liz Truss's children?

Liz Truss mostly keeps both of her children out of the spotlight

She has two daughters, Frances, born in March 2006, and Liberty, born in November 2008.

As they are teenagers, their faces have always been kept secret, in a bid to keep their privacy.

Truss shares her daughters with her husband HughO'Learyy.

What has Liz Truss said about her children?

In an interview with YOU magazine in May 2019, Truss said that her youngest daughter Liberty gives her mum fashion pointers:

She shared: "She’s very into the idea of a pop of colour. She shops at places such as New Look and River Island, so she introduces me to places I wouldn’t think of much."

Truss added that Liberty is not afraid to tell her mum her opinion, adding that "She does indicate that perhaps I should not leave the house in that outfit".

The former PM also said in an interview with the BBC's Pienaar's Politics in 2018 that she has to lock her daughter's phone in a box to restrict her screen time.

She said: "I'm known as the phone jailer in our household.

"I think the best method is physically locking it away.

Before she quit as Prime Minister, Liz said her family was still coming to terms with how her new position could affect them, but that her daughters were getting stuck into the world of politics.

Speaking to The Daily Telegraph, she said: “I think there’s a dawning realisation that this is real.

“I think my daughter’s friends at school are quite amazed by what’s happening.

“My oldest daughter’s working on the digital team.

“She’s done a computing GCSE so she’s helping out on that.

"And my younger daughter was there as well, giving general political advice.”

Who is Liz Truss's husband Hugh O'Leary?

Truss is married to Hugh O’Leary.

He is an accountant by trade, but he did once attempt to get into politics himself.

In 2002, he unsuccessfully tried to stand as a Tory candidate in local elections.

Truss and O'Leary first met in 1997 at the Tory Party conference.

Recalling their first date in a 2019 interview with You magazine, she said: "I invited him ice-skating and he sprained his ankle."

They went on to get married in 2000.

However, their marriage hit the rocks in 2006 after her affair with the then-married Tory MP Mark Field was made public.

When asked about the affair by the Daily Mail O'Leary said: “I don’t want to talk about it.”

The pair managed to work through the affair, and in the You magazine interview Truss said she is "really happily married".

In 2019 she posted a picture of herself on social media with her husband captioned: “Love of my life.”

Truss has also previously commented that O’Leary is often “on hand” to discuss complex economics.

She said: “Whenever I want a late night discussion about supply side reform or econometrics, there’s always someone on hand.”

During her time as Prime Minister, Liz lived with her family at 10 Downing Street.

However, the family also has properties in other parts of the UK.

It is understood they have homes in Greenwich and Norfolk.

Truss has been the MP for South West Norfolk since 2010.

Her tenure as PM ended on October 25, 2022, after she was formally appointed by the Queen on September 6, 2022 - a total of 49 days.
