Gran Teresa Hanson, 53, ‘plunged kitchen knife into her husband’s chest three days after Christmas’
A GRANDMOTHER killed her husband by plunging a kitchen knife into his chest three days after Christmas, a court heard.
Teresa Hanson, 54, is accused of murdering Paul Hanson, 54, in the kitchen of their home in the village of West Cowick, East Yorkshire, on December 28 last year.
Hanson denies murdering her husband of 34 years.
On the first day of a trial at Hull Crown Court, jurors were told of an outline of the prosecution case.
Hanson listened on as Alistair MacDonald KC, prosecuting, said "a 999 call was made to the ambulance service by this defendant" at 7.05pm.
Mr MacDonald added: "As Mrs Hanson was preparing supper at that address, at that time, something happened between Mr Hanson and his wife, as a result of which Mrs Hanson stabbed her husband in the chest and caused catastrophic fatal injuries to his heart.
"Mrs Hanson made various comments in 999 calls which you will hear about.
"It's within that very small compass the case will be decided.
"There's no dispute that the death occurred as a result of a stab wound with a kitchen knife which was on a work surface."
Mr Hanson, a construction manager, died shortly after suffering the fatal wound.

A jury was sworn in after Hanson entered her not guilty plea ahead of an anticipated five-day trial.
Mr MacDonald told jurors the case happened in a village "near Snaith" and located "between Doncaster and Hull".
He said: "It relates to the killing of Paul Hanson by his wife Theresa Hanson.
"Those are all the points that I wish to point to the attention of the jury."
The prosecution case is set to be opened fully on Tuesday.
