What do we know about the Dublin stabbing suspect?

Cops have revealed the motive of the attacker remains unclear - and while a suspect has been identified no arrest has been made.

According to The Irish Times, the chief suspect is understood to be a naturalized Irish citizen, who has lived there in the region of 20 years.

Thugs who took to the streets of Dublin were said to be fuelled by unconfirmed rumours about the nationality of the alleged knifeman - with cops dubbing it "misinformation".

It’s believed the attacker was stopped by a hero Deliveroo driver who said he acted on "pure instinct" when he sprung into action.

Caio Benicio, 43, originally from Brazil, quickly dismounted his bike, took off his helmet and struck the attacker.

He said he initially thought the commotion was a row between a man and a woman but was horrified when he realised that the man was attacking young children.

How many people were stabbed in Dublin?

Five people were stabbed during the shock daylight attack.
