SHAQUILLE O'Neal had his jersey retired by the Orlando Magic on Tuesday.

Shaq became the third NBA player to have his number retired by three different teams, but he was focused on honoring one of his teammates.

Shaq gave Nick Anderson his respect, saying he believed his number should have already been retired.

"I have many wonderful Magic memories. There's no other place I would have wanted to start my career," Shaq said.

"Orlando will forever have a special place in my heart.

"It's a real honor to be the first Orlando Magic player to get their jersey retired, although I would've expected to be number two.

"Nick Anderson, come up here. I always thought if they were going to do retired jerseys you should be the first.

"You were the first superstar here in Orlando."

Nick Anderson spent 13 seasons in the NBA from 1989 to 2002. He spent 10 with the Magic.

During his time with the Magic, Anderson averaged 15.4 points, 5.3 rebounds, and 2.6 assists per game on 32.4 minutes played.
