GOLDEN State Warriors head coach Steve Kerr lost it when Klay Thompson ruined his team's comeback with a puzzling foul in Wednesday's 130-125 loss to the LA Clippers.

The Dubs squandered a 14-point lead in the fourth quarter but stayed in the game thanks to a late 3 from rookie Brandin Podziemski.

Podziemski hit a corner triple to reduce the Clippers' lead to 126-123 with 39.6 left on the clock.

As the Warriors had enough time to get a stop and then try to tie things up with another 3 on their next possession, Kerr, 58, instructed his players not to intentionally foul LA.

But as soon as Norman Powell sent the inbound pass to Russell Westbrook, Thompson, 34, ran up to Westbrook and made contact to send him to the free-throw line.

The blunder sent a furious Kerr almost falling to his knees with the Warriors coach slamming the court with his palms before burying his head in them.

Podziemski also grabbed his head as a painful grimace appeared on his face.

Bizarrely, Steph Curry extended his arm in an attempt to console Thompson – who would end the night with 12 points, three rebounds, and an assist.

But the shooting guard snubbed his teammate's gesture and just kept walking toward the other side of the court.

Westbrook then made both of his freebies, all but securing the win for the Clippers.

Thompson's mistake came after he'd been left out of the closing lineups in some of the previous games amid his name being mentioned in trade rumors.

And the five-time NBA All-Star admitted to finding his diminishing role difficult to accept.

"You kidding me? Go from, you know, one of the best players ... it's hard for anybody," he said after last week's win over the Memphis Grizzlies.

"I'll be honest with you. It's very hard."

The Clippers-Warriors matchup got heated in the fourth quarter with Clippers head coach Ty Lue getting ejected after receiving two technical fouls for protesting calls.

Meanwhile, Steph Curry dropped 41 points having shocked Dubs fans with a stunning full-court tunnel shot before tip-off.
