FOOTBALL season may still be months away, but sports fans do have something to look forward to in the offseason: the 2024 NFL Draft.
All 32 NFL teams are coming together to select newly eligible players during the 2024 NFL Draft, with hundreds of selections taking place over several days.
When is the 2024 NFL Draft?
The 2024 NFL Draft kicks off on Thursday, April 25, and runs through Saturday, April 27, 2024.
The hours of operation for each day are:
- Thursday, April 25: 12 pm to 10 pm
- Friday, April 26: 12 pm to 10 pm
- Saturday, April 27: 9 am to 6 pm
On March 28, 2022, Detroit, Michigan beat out Green Bay and Washington D.C. as the host city of the 2024 NFL Draft.

The NFL Draft will be held in downtown Detroit around both Campus Martius Park and Hart Plaza.

Dubbed the NFL's "ultimate fan festival," the 2024 NFL Draft Experience presented by Rocket Mortgage includes a myriad of events and experiences, including:

- Photos with the Vince Lombardi Trophy
- Autographs from current and former NFL players

The 2024 NFL Draft will also feature food and beverage vendors from various neighborhoods in Detroit.
In addition, Detroit's unique culture will be highlighted throughout the three-day event.
While registration and attendance are free, attendance will be on a first-come, first-serve basis.
Fans are encouraged to get to the 2024 NFL Draft early to secure their spot at the event.

For fans and spectators who won't be able to make it to Motor City, the 2024 NFL Draft will also be available to watch and stream LIVE and on-demand.
The 2024 NFL Draft will air on several channels.
Fans can watch the picks on ESPN, ABC, and the ESPN App/ESPN+.
The NFL Draft Countdown kicks off on ESPN on Thursday, April 25, at 7 pm ET.
The draft begins at 8 pm ET.
ESPN will focus on:
- Areas of need for each team
- The draftee's football resume
- How the draftee will fit in with the team that drafted him
ABC will provide:
- Player analysis and storytelling
- Insight into the draftee's background and journey to the NFL
ESPN studio shows, including ESPN Bet Live, First Take, and Get Up will have analysts on the ground in Detroit to contribute to each show.
ESPN digital shows, ESPN Radio, and ESPN Deportes will cover every round and pick.
Even an NFL legend, former Patriots coach Bill Belichick, is co-hosting a live NFL Draft event with Pat McAfee on The Pat McAfee Show.
How many picks are in the NFL Draft?
The 2024 NFL Draft is taking place across several days, which makes sense considering the monumental amount of selections taking place.
Overall, the 2024 NFL Draft will include 257 selections across seven rounds.
The seven rounds of picks are divided up among three days, including:
- Day One: Round one
- Day Two: Rounds two and three
- Day Three: Rounds four, five, six, and seven
The team with the first round, first overall pick are the Chicago Bears, due to an earlier trade with the Carolina Panthers.
The Panthers had the worst record in the 2023 season.
