THE New York Mets are set to cut pitcher Jorge Lopez after an on-field meltdown.
Relief pitcher Lopez, 31, was furious after being thrown out of Wednesday's game against the Los Angeles Dodgers.
Lopez was ejected by third-base umpire Ramon De Jesus as the Mets bullpen fell apart in the 10-3 loss.
He launched his glove into the crowd after being ordered from the field for arguing with De Jesus over a check swing.
Lopez's cap fell off and he left it lying in the dirt opposite the Mets bullpen.
Mets manager Carlos Mendoza called the outburst "not acceptable."

Lopez has since been designated for assignment, meaning he will be cut, sent to the minors, or traded, per the Associated Press.
"I don't regret it," Lopez told reporters in a remarkable locker room interview following his ejection, via ESPN.
"Whatever happened, happened. I'll be here tomorrow if they want me. Whatever they want to do.
"I'm going to keep doing this thing, you know. I'm healthy.

"I'm ready to come back tomorrow if they want me to be here. So I'll be here."
"Just something out of emotions," Lopez added, after being asked about the reason for his ejection.
"I just don't give a f*** [about] anything."
The Puerto Rican then went on to make a confusing statement about his role on the team.
He appeared to dub the Mets "the worst team in the whole f***ing MLB," per MLB.com.
However, others believed he had called himself "the worst teammate in the whole f***ing MLB."
Lopez was later asked to clarify if he had called the Mets "the worst team" in baseball.
"Yeah, probably, it looked like," came his reply, per SNY.
Home runs and boomsticks
MLB is back in London for a third time this summer when the Philadelphia Phillies take on the New York Mets.
The London Stadium will transform from a football pitch to a baseball field for the June 8 and 9 spectacle.
Fans attending the games can feast on some extravagant ballpark menu items such as boomstick nachos (pictured) and a two-foot boomstick hotdog.
The New York Yankees won both games in 2019 against their rivals the Boston Red Sox.
And the Chicago Cubs split their series with the St Louis Cardinals when the teams faced off in 2023.
But the pitcher set the record straight on social media later, confirming he actually said "teammate."
Lopez is in his first season with the Mets after signing a $2 million, one-year contract in December.
The 31-year-old is 1-2 with a 3.76 ERA and two saves in 28 appearances.
The Mets have now lost 8 of their last 10 MLB games.
They are 5-15 over the last 20 games and have a regular season record of 22-32.
Wednesday's loss completed a series sweep for the Dodgers, who arrived in New York on their own five-game skid.
Mets star Francisco Lindor organized a players-only meeting following the defeat, where New York collapsed from 3-3 in the eighth to 3-10 by the final out.
