NFL stars Patrick Mahomes and Travis Kelce have gone full speed in their new embrace of Formula 1.

And the Kansas City Chiefs teammates received a huge boost to their investment in F1 team Alpine Racing at the Canadian Grand Prix over the weekend.

Alpine Racing landed its first double-points finish at Montreal, with Pierre Gasly and Esteban Ocon finishing ninth and 10th respectively in Montreal.

The result moved Alpine up to eighth place in the constructors' championship with five points.

“I am happy for the team that we were able to score points with both cars today," Ocon said.

"We did a mega race starting from the back of the grid to make it into the points, and that is amazing for the team.

"The team had to fix the car on the grid before the race start and I am very grateful for the hard work they did."

Gasly added: “We can be very pleased as a team with our result today, with both cars finishing in the points for the first time this year."

The double-points finish was soured by a disagreement over team orders, however.

Ocon, who is leaving Alpine next year, was ordered to let Gasly pass him to try to attack Daniel Ricciardo.

“Yeah, forget it,” replied Ocon.

He was then told: “That is the request.”

Mahomes and Kelce recently showed their support for Alpine Racing at the Miami Grand Prix.

"I think everybody can see the appeal," Mahomes said of his investment.

"I've been able to get to a couple races now, seeing the environment, and then obviously watching the (Formula 1:) Drive to Survive on Netflix you see how competitive it is.

"Any time you get an opportunity to get in on that, I mean I'm as competitive as anyone can get, so hopefully it can open up to some great opportunities and we are able to go to some of those races and have a little stake in the game."

Formula 1 driver Lando Norris recently revealed he swapped numbers with Kelce following his victory at the Miami Grand Prix.

And Norris says he may use his new Kelce connection to secure tickets to a Chiefs game – and maybe even a Taylor Swift concert.

After the Miami GP, Kelce and Norris were spotted at a celebrity party and supper club Carbone Beach on South Beach.

And the two athletes made an instant connection.

"One of my friends introduced me to him. And he was an awesome guy," Norris told BBC Radio 1 Breakfast with Greg James.

"About double my height so looking straight up...but he was a legend.

Patrick Mahomes' endorsements

Patrick Mahomes earns over $50 million per season from his Kansas City Chiefs contract.

But the superstar quarterback also cashes in on his brand off the field.

Mahomes has a reported net worth of $70 million.

And that's in no small part down to some of the brand he endorses.

The Chiefs star is the face of Adidas in the United States and appears in State Farm commercials.

He also pops up on adverts for Subway and Head and Shoulders.

Mahomes also became the face of energy drink Prime, which is owned by Logan Paul and KSI.

"He was very sweet and, yeah, we exchanged numbers and hopefully I can get to a game one day....or a Taylor Swift concert."

The Briton added that he would try to be subtle to land Swift concert tickets from her boyfriend Kelce.

"I'm not just going to use him. I've got to warm up to it a little bit," he added.

"'Do you want to come to a couple of grands prix? Oh and by the way, my sister's...and I need to go with my sister'... That kind of thing."
