Luckily for them, McEnroe is not serious about coming out of retirement.

Instead, McEnroe has flashed back to his classic hairdo and Wimbledon clobber while filming for a TV advert.

The 65-year-old was seen in a white jacket and shorts while wearing a wig and his iconic red hairband.

McEnroe won three Wimbledon titles across his career, picking up crowns in 1981, 1983 and 1984.

Even without his wins, McEnroe etched his name into Wimbledon folklore with his famous "You cannot be serious" rant in 1981 after a line call went against him.

He also made the final in 1980 and 1982 to further cement his legendary Wimbledon status.

The US Open was the only tennis major where McEnroe enjoyed more success, with four titles to his name.

After hanging up his tennis racket, McEnroe eventually joined BBC's coverage of Wimbledon and has been a mainstay since 2004.
