  • Krejcikova beats Rybakina

    Well, who saw this coming?

She lost the first four games of the match but Krejcikova has battled back very impressively indeed.

The Czech star prevails 3-6 6-3 6-4 in just over two hours on Centre Court.

Huge disappointment for the 2022 champion.

As for Krejcikova, she faces Jasmine Paolini for the Wimbledon title on Saturday afternoon.

  • One game away...

Krejcikova is just one game away from the final.

She comes from 0-30 down to hold for 5-3.

Over to Elena Rybakina to serve to stay in Wimbledon.

  • Paolini on reaching final

Jasmine Paolini claims that she would have thought someone was "crazy" if they had told her 12 months ago that she'd reach two consecutive Grand Slam finals.

Asked how she'd have reacted, she laughed as she admitted: "I think even two months ago...

"No, I don't know. You are crazy, I would say, yes. Yeah, I don't have words. Just, yeah, you are crazy I would say."

  • Going the distance

Well, after Rybakina raced into a 4-0 lead, it has been a weird match.

Breaks galore at the end of the first set before the No4 seed closed it out 6-3.

But now Krejcikova has come storming back, taking the second by the same scoreline to take this one the distance...

    Well, well, well!

  • Donna Vekic's reaction

Beaten semi-finalist Donna Vekic has spoken about her third set tears.

The Croatian, 28, said: "Sometimes it can help. My tears were not because... I was more crying because I had so much pain, I didn't know how I could keep playing.

    "But somehow, I don't know... I'm sorry."

  • Rybakina in total control

Wow, a flying start from Elena Rybakina against Barbora Krejcikova in the second women's semi.

She has taken the opening four games of the match to race into a 4-0 double-break lead on Centre.

One suspects this match may be a tad quicker than the first...

  • Paolini on her win

Following her epic 2-6 6-4 7-6 victory over Donna Vekic, Italian Jasmine Paolini told the BBC's Rishi Persad: "These last months have been crazy for me.

"I am trying to focus on what I have to do on court and I love playing tennis. It is amazing to be here and It is a dream.

"I was watching finals when I was a kid and I am living in the present. The last months have been crazy for me."

After being informed that she'd just won the longest Wimbledon women's semi-final in history, recent Roland Garros runner-up Paolini beamed: "It is normal to be tired!

"I hope you enjoyed the match, it was a tense match and I tried to play my best. It is time to recover!"

  • Paolini through to final!

Jasmine Paolini is through to her first Wimbledon final!

The Italian, 28, has beaten Donna Vekic 6-2 4-6 7-6 in an intense battle on Centre Court!

Vekic saved two match points prior to the match tiebreak, but Paolini held firm to eventually take the epic contest 11-9 in the breaker.

She will face either Elena Rybakina or Barbora Krejcikova in Saturday's final.

  • Vekic in tears

Oh this is sad to see.

Vekic saved a match point at 5-4 before battling through to hold.

She then saw a few break points go begging at 5-5 as Paolini held, confirmed by a Vekic shot that was called in but Hawk-Eye proved it was 3mm out.

And the Croatian burst into floods of tears at the changeover before coming out to serve to stay in it...

  • Paolini breaks back

Vekic got a break early in this deciding third set.

However, Paolini has broken back for 3-3.

You can understand some nerves on both sides of the net...

  • Going the distance

After a few tricky holds, Paolini gets herself to 5-4 in the second set.

And when the pressure ramps up, Vekic crumbles.

The Croatian - who missed a shocking smash earlier on - double faults and dumps forehand into the net as the Italian got to 15-40.

And she takes her first set point, going on the offensive before stepping in and swatting a forehand winner away.

  • Game and first set, Vekic

A bit of a surprise could be brewing on Centre Court.

The first-time Grand Slam semi-finalist Vekic broke again at 4-2 and served it out confidently.

No7 seed Paolini needs to find something very soon if she wants to be in Saturday's final.

    Very impressive from Vekic.

  • De Minaur on withdrawal

Alex de Minaur has taken to social media for the first time since having to withdraw from his Wimbledon quarter-final against Novak Djokovic.

Alongside a picture of himself looking dejected on court the Aussie, 25, wrote: "There’s nothing I wanted to do more than go out and compete my hardest but my body didn’t allow me to.

"Heartbroken and devastated. Thank you to all the support always, I will be back stronger than before."

  • Musetti on Djokovic clash

Lorenzo Musetti expects "another big fight" against Novak Djokovic in the Wimbledon semi-finals.

He probably knows better than me the surface and the stadium.

But joking aside, he is a legend - especially here at Wimbledon. He has done things that are unthinkable.

I've had the chance to play against him a lot of times - we know each other pretty well - and they've always been a huge fight.

I expect another big fight. It's going to be one of my biggest challenges, but I'm an ambitious guy and like to be challenged.

I'll try my best and will put in 100 per cent effort, so let's see what happens.

  • Doubles fault

Wimbledon were forced into a last-minute scheduling change.

The atrocious weather during the 2024 Championships fortnight in SW19 has led to lengthy rain delays on most days.

That has seen the roof deployed for many of the matches on Centre Court and No1 Court.

And Wimbledon chiefs made the bold decision to switch the day of a major match.

The mixed doubles final was due to take place on Thursday but the Scheduling Committee at the All England Club opted to change the plan.

Instead, the mixed doubles final will take place after the men's singles final on Centre Court on Sunday - that is when the mixed final used to be played before a change in 2022 to bring it forwards.

  • Canu believe it?

Emma Raducanu is set to take a financial hit on her Wimbledon prize money.

The British star, 21, earned £226,000 for reaching the fourth round in SW19.

Raducanu would have netted £375k for advancing to the quarter-finals but she fell to impressive qualifier Lulu Sun on Centre Court, losing 6-2 5-7 6-2.

Chatting to OLBG, financial expert Rob Wilson explained the tax implications of Raducanu's run.

He said: "Emma Raducanu, like most athletes who earn any kind of real money, will be set up as a company for the purposes of taxation and earning profits etc.

"She'll pay, on the basis that she's based in the UK, 20 per cent corporation tax up to a certain level and then 25 per cent as soon as those profits go above the next tax threshold.

"So if she were to earn, say, £10million she would be expected to be taxed by around £2.5m, and then there will be deductible expenses through a company to try and bring that tax bill down, which are all legitimate.

"But she will have a significant tax bill based upon her Wimbledon earnings which are as of yet to be confirmed. Realistically, 20 per cent corporation tax on top of those earnings."

  • Djok-er in the pack

Novak Djokovic has been backed to lift Grand Slam No25 this weekend by his secret weapon.

And Nick Kyrgios – who has put aside past grievances to become a hitting partner on the training courts this fortnight – has warned future opponents not to rile the Serbian.

Kyrgios said: “Having a day off is the best thing for him. Especially when you’re playing best of five, at his age, 37, and with that knee.

“Novak looks for more motivation in those things. I’ve tried to do these things and it doesn’t work.

“He’ll single out that one person to find that extra motivation. On that day, it was just that.

“After that incident happened, he started to play some of the best tennis we have seen.

“My advice to anyone going up against Novak in the future in the crowd, if you don’t want Novak to win, be as quiet as possible.”

    The 25th seed battled past Fritz 3-6 7-6 6-2 3-6 6-1 to advance.

Next up he will face Novak Djokovic, who received a bye today courtesy of Alex de Minaur withdrawal.

Fritz, 26, appeared to hurt his knee during the penultimate point of the match, so it'll be interesting to see what he says in press later on.

  • Fritz going five!

Taylor Fritz has taken his epic Wimbledon quarter-final against Lorenzo Musetti to a deciding fifth set.

    The American, 26, has levelled the contest at 6-3 6-7 2-6 6-3.

Who will book a semi-final spot against Novak Djokovic.

  • 'I'm waiting'

In a direct message to the retiring ace, Lopez said: “Andy, I’m waiting for you for next year’s invitational. I hope this time you don’t say no. I’d love you to play with me."

The former world No12 then told reporters: “I wanted to play some more doubles with him in the last three years after Queen’s but he was mainly focused on his singles career, he was going through a lot of injuries.

“Of course, we would’ve loved to play more doubles but it was just not possible so maybe next year I’ll play here with him?

“It’s great to finish your career at the Olympic Games. Andy, he’s a two-time gold medallist."

  • One Murr time?

Andy Murray has been invited back to Wimbledon in 2025 to play a match of doubles.

The Scotsman, 37, was given an emotional Centre Court send-off last week as he called time on his Wimbledon career after 19 years.

The two-time champion will finish the sport for good after playing in Team GB colours at the Paris Olympics at Roland Garros.

One of the best moments of his life came in June 2019 when, five months after hip resurfacing surgery, he won the Queen’s doubles title with close pal Feliciano Lopez.

And the Spaniard, 42, would love to play with Murray in the gentlemen’s invitation doubles round-robin ties on the SW19 grounds, which is for old-timers and retired folk.

  • Roger in his Fed-era

Roger Federer took a break from Wimbledon to party with Taylor Swift.

It has been a Cruel Summer with horrendous weather in SW19 throughout the 2024 Championships Fortnight.

Federer, 42, was on site at the All England Club last week, after his wife was spotted in the stands without the eight-time champion.

But with rain plaguing the last few days, the Swiss superstar found a Blank Space in his busy diary and decided to Shake It Off by heading back to his homeland - and met up with Swift at her gig in Zurich.

Tuesday night's leg of the epic Eras Tour saw the pop star, 34, take to the stage at the Letzigrund stadium, just over an hour's drive from Fed's hometown of Basel.

Federer - who fittingly competed in 22 Wimbledons - shared a snap of his five friendship bracelets on his Instagram story alongside his Rolex watch on his left wrist.
