THE 2024 USA Basketball Men's National Team are already being spoken about as one of the best ever.

The talent and resume of the squad - on paper at least - is up there with the very best Team USA have ever put out.

Head coach Steve Kerr has said his entire 12-man squad, at least before Kawhi Leonard withdrew, will make the basketball Hall of Fame.

Others are claiming it could beat the 1992 Dream Team, which featured the likes of Michael Jordan, Magic Johnson, Larry Bird and Charles Barkley.

Here's everything you need to know about the Paris 2024 Olympic team.

USA Basketball Men's National Team Roster

Less than a year ago, Team USA were embarrassed at the Fiba World Cup when they fell to eventual champions Germany in the semi-final and then lost the third-place game to Canada.

The squad has had an almost complete overhaul since with just two players from that team - Tyrese Haliburton and Anthony Edwards - making the Olympic roster.

After that defeat there were rumours that LeBron James - who had not played at the 2016 or 2020 games - was interested in trying to win a third gold medal.

He then committed to the program and a new 'Dream Team' quickly fell into place.

Two-time MVP Stephen Curry will make his Olympic debut, having also missed 2016 and 2020, while holdovers from the Tokyo squad - Devin Booker, Jayson Tatum and Bam Adebayo - will return.

Another former NBA MVP, Kevin Durant, was also part of that squad and will go for a record-breaking fourth gold at the game.

In an Olympic first, a fourth former NBA MVP is also on the roster, with Joel Embiid committing to Team USA despite qualifying for both France and Cameroon.

The current squad has the oldest average - 30 years, 9 months - of any Team USA squad but also boasts 11 players who have had All-NBA awards, three NBA Finals MVPs, almost 80 All-Stars and seven players who have won the Larry O'Brien trophy.

Those numbers would have been higher, but Kawhi Leonard withdrew for defensive expert Derrick White - who is fresh off winning a title with the Boston Celtics.

The squad is also led by a trio of coaches - Steve Kerr, Tyronn Lue and Erik Spoelstra - who have who a combined seven NBA championships as head coaches.

High-profile players to miss the team include Jalen Brunson - who came fifth in MVP voting last season - and other All-Stars such as Tyrese Maxey, Donovan Mitchell and Trae Young.

Team USA Men's Basketball Opponents and Rivals

International teams have closed the gap on the Dream Team as has been shown in the last two Fiba World Cups, when the USA failed to win gold.

There are multiple All-Stars and All-NBA players dotted around the competition, with Steve Kerr having his work cut out, although Team USA clearly boast the deepest roster.

Only three of the current Team USA roster received any votes for the NBA MVP award last season and none of those were first place.

The top four MVP vote earners last season - winner Nikola Jokic (Serbia), Shai Gilgeous-Alexander (Canada), Luka Doncic (Slovenia) and Giannis Antetokounmpo (Greece) - could all face the USA at some point.

Defensive player of the year Rudy Gobert and Rookie of the Year Victor Wenbanyama will also combine to try and lead France to glory on home soil.

Canada also has multiple NBA players, as does Australia, who pushed the USA all the way in a narrow 98-92 defeat against Team USA in Abu Dubai in a pre-tournament exhibition.
