That was to allow all fans to enter the stadium in time for kick-off.

There were big queues outside Scotland's rugby ground as fans flocked to see Erik ten Hag's side play their first game north of the border since 2012.

United tweeted an update for supporters which read: "Due to queues around the ground for entry, kick-off at Murrayfield has been delayed until 16:15 BST.

"Thank you to fans from both sides for your magnificent support ❤️💙"

Around ten minutes after the scheduled kick-off the players took to the pitch in front of a packed stadium.

Play got underway at 4:15pm and it took Jonny Evans just 20 seconds to receive a telling off for elbowing Cyriel Dessers in the face.

Evans lined up in central defence alongside United's latest signing, Leny Yoro.

Jadon Sancho also started, featuring for the first time under Ten Hag since his fall out with the United boss last September.

The winger was banished from the first-team after failing to apologise to his manager following claims he made about being unfairly scapegoated.
