Saban led the Alabama program for 17 seasons, finishing his coaching career at the University with an astounding 201-29 record.

It announced this week that the Crimson Tide are prepared to honor Saban by renaming the playing field at Bryant-Denny Stadium after him.

The playing area is expected to be renamed Nick Saban Field.

The University of Alabama system board of trustees met on Friday for "the consideration of resolution approving a naming at Bryant-Denny Stadium at UA," per AL.com.

It's expected there will be a ceremony to observe the new field name on September 7.

On that day, the Crimson Tide will play South Florida in their second contest of the 2024 season at Bryant-Denny Stadium.

Saban was 108-9 at home as the Alabama coach.

The program won 21 in a row in Tuscaloosa before losing to Texas in Week 2 last season.

In his last eight seasons as coach, Saban's only SEC home loss came against LSU in 2019.

That Tigers team went 15-0 and won the national championship.

Saban's seven total national titles are the most of all time.

There's already a statue of Saban outside Bryant-Denny Stadium, along with the other Crimson Tide national championship-winning coaches.

He still has an office at the stadium.

Bryant-Denny Stadium was first built in 1929 and was initially named Denny Stadium after former university president George Denny.

In 1975, the stadium was renamed to honor Bear Bryant, who won six national championships with the Tide.
