CBS announces major broadcast change for 2024 NFL season with new broadcast teams confirmed after Matt Ryan’s job switch

Ryan will take on a new role in his second season with CBS

CBS Sports have confirmed their announcer lineup for the 2024 NFL season.

The network was forced to make a change after former NFL MVP Matt Ryan left the booth.

Ryan will become a regular on The NFL Today, joining James Brown, Bill Cowher, Nate Burleson, and JJ Watt.

Jonathan Jones will work as the show's lead insider.

"Excited to join @JBsportscaster, @nateburleson, @CowherCBS and @JJWatt on The NFL Today! @NFLonCBS," Ryan tweeted after his addition was announced.

The crew will be without Boomer Esiason, who first appeared on the show in 2002.

Phil Simms has also left the lineup after seven years in the role.

Their departures came after the expiration of their respective contracts.

As for the broadcast booths, Ryan's place will be taken by Jason McCourty, as per CBS.

He held a part-time role as an analyst for the first time in 2023.

The Super Bowl champion and former Good Morning Football host will work alongside Andrew Catalon and Tiki Barber.

They will be joined by reporter AJ Ross, while Chris Lewis will also join the team on occasion.

Elsewhere, things will remain unchanged with Tony Romo and Jim Nantz set to continue as the lead team along with Tracy Wolfson.

Ian Eagle and Charles Davis will also return together with reporter Evan Washburn.

Kevin Harlan and Trent Green are back alongside Melanie Collins.

August 27 - Deadline for 53-man rosters

September 1 - Final day of pre-season

September 5 - Season opener - Baltimore Ravens vs Kansas City Chiefs

November 5 - Trade deadline

January 5 - Week 18 of regular-season

January 11 - Playoffs begin

February 9 - Super Bowl LIX in New Orleans, Louisiana

As are Spero Dedes and Adam Archuleta, with Aditi Kinkhabwala covering the latest from the field.

The final team of Tom McCarthy, Jay Feely, and Ross Tucker will feature various reporters during the season.

Beth Mowins is also scheduled to call plays on some games.

While Amanda Balionis, Tiffany Blackmon, and Amanda Guerra will also report on various games.

CBS' next NFL broadcast will come in Week 3 of the preseason when the Denver Broncos host the Arizona Cardinals.

That is scheduled to kick off at 4:30pm ET on August 25.
