FIRST TAKE host and Stephen A. Smith fill-in Dan Orlovsky dropped a flaming hot take during his appearance on Tuesday.

While sitting in Stephen A's seat, Orlovsky called out the New York Jets for their quarterback situation.

The Jets traded for quarterback Aaron Rodgers before the 2023 season, but have yet to reap the rewards.

"Three years ago or four years ago, when Aaron Rodgers wants out of Green Bay, it was 'oh my god, what teams are the right situation to go get a quarterback?'" Orlovsky said.

"Then the acquisition happens for Aaron Rodgers and everyone is like 'this is the dice roll by the Jets.'

"We all felt that the Jets were a pretty good roster at that point, and I know they've added to the offensive line, but they were a pretty good offense at that point.

"Joe Douglas, who's their general manager, was like 'no no no, I'm gonna go get a quarterback now because we feel like we're a quarterback away."

Rodgers went down with injury in the first week of the 2023 season, and are hoping for a deep playoff run with him healthy this year.

However, Orlovsky is warning the Jets that they could be regretting their trade if the team doesn't make a championship push in 2024.

"I compare it a little bit to the Russell Wilson situation," Orlovsky continued.

"The Russell Wilson trade for the Denver Broncos is widely viewed as one of the worst trades in the history of the NFL.

"If this doesn't go well for the Jets, this is in the conversation to be one of the worst trades in the history of the NFL.

"The Jets traded for a guy that was a two out of three year MVP-winning quarterback. If you don't get anything for it this is going to go down in Joe Douglas' resume as a complete disaster.

"This is one of the best defenses that the Jets have in the NFL. You're gonna waste Sauce Gardener. You're gonna waste Quinnen Williams. You're gonna waste some of this defensive talent.

"Garrett Wilson is one of the best receivers, I'll stand on that. If this doesn't go well, then we're wasting the young years of some of this young talent."

Rodgers is under contract for the 2024 and 2025 season, but has been open about potentially retiring early if things don't go well with the Jets.

Regardless of what Rodgers does, fans didn't agree with Orlovsky's analysis of the trade.

"In what world is giving up 0 1st Round picks for a former MVP a bad trade," one fan said.

"Can we see one game with him healthy before we do this?" another fan said.

"This guy loves playing both sides of the argument. Choose a side, Dan," a third fan said.

"That is laughable lmfao. Among others, the Russell Wilson trade was far worse," a fourth fan said.
