McGough started his career with the Seattle Seahawks after being picked in the seventh round of the 2018 NFL Draft.

He originally signed a four-year, $2.5 million deal with the team, but ended up being cut in the preseason.

The 28-year-old then signed a futures contract with the Jacksonville Jaguars, but was waived by them soon after.

McGough ended up landing on the Houston Texans' practice squad, but was cut by them in 2020.

He bounced back and forth between the Texans and Seahawks before moving on from the NFL.

He signed with the Birmingham Stallions in the USFL, spending two seasons there.

Birmingham won the USFL both years and McGough was named the league MVP in 2023.

That year he appeared in 10 games, compiling 2,105 passing yards, 20 touchdowns, and five interceptions.

He also added 405 yards and five touchdowns on the ground.

There, McGough converted to wide receiver, but still couldn't stick on the roster and was waived.

McGough did come out of his Packers contract with some money though, as he received a settlement on his way out.

The amount in the settlement is unknown.

In a corresponding move to waiving McGough, the Packers activated fifth-round safety Kitan Oladapo from the non-football injury list.

McGough will not be the last of the roster cuts for the Packers this preseason, as more will come after games are played.

The first preseason game of the NFL season is on Thursday, August 8, with the Packers playing their first on Saturday, August 10.
