TAMPA Bay Buccaneers quarterback Baker Mayfield has revealed he crashed into teammate Antoine Winfield's car during the summer.

Mayfield was on the NFL Network and asked to talk about Winfield as the Buccaneers prepare for the new NFL season.

The 29-year-old was full of praise for the safety and also told his unlikely car story.

"I've got to go up against him in practice, luckily he can't hit me when they blitz him," Mayfield said.

"Apparently I don't know how to pull out of a parking lot, because in June I clipped his car.

"I just had to pay him back for it.

"He's an unbelievable guy, he was like 'bro no problem' with a smile on his face.

"I thought he was going to pay me.

"He's an unbelievable guy and such a great football player. He's just an unbelievable leader and another guy we're lucky to have."

Host Sara Walsh later posted a clip of the interview on X, the site formerly known as Twitter.

"Didn’t expect this response from Baker when I asked him to help me talk about Antoine Winfield on the way to break," she wrote.

"Mayfield told me he hit Winfield’s car in the parking lot in June.

"Both have the contracts to get that bumper fixed."

That last comment is certainly true. Mayfield signed a three-year contract extension with the Buccaneers in March, worth up to $100 million, with $50 million guaranteed.

Winfield has been with the Bucs since being selected with the 45th overall pick in 2020 NFL Draft.

And he signed a new four-year contract earlier this year, keeping him with the team until the 2027 season.

In his first four seasons, Winfield has amassed 384 tackles and 15.0 sacks.
