GMFB discussed Thursday's Hall of Fame game between 2023 Pro Bowl quarterback CJ Stroud and the Houston Texans and 2024 No. 1 overall pick signal-caller Caleb Williams and the Chicago Bears.

While neither Stroud nor Williams will play in the preseason game, analyst Schrager was asked which player has the higher expectations for the upcoming season.

Schrager said that Stroud will have more pressure on him due to his outstanding rookie campaign.

He went further, believing that Stroud has the chance of being the league's most valuable player in 2024.

"I think the expectations for CJ Stroud are MVP," Schrager said.

"It's (Patrick) Mahomes, it's (Josh) Allen, it's (Joe) Burrow, it's Lamar (Jackson), then it's Stroud being talked about in that conversation."

But the NFL writer did point out that it's hard for players in the second years of their respective careers.

"It's really hard that sophomore season. You're no longer the hunters, you're the hunted," Schrager said.

Stroud passed for 4,108 yards with 23 touchdowns and only five interceptions.

He helped the Texans win the AFC South and became the youngest quarterback to start and win a playoff game.

Stroud was voted NFL's Offensive Rookie of the Year, the first player to win the award in Houston's history.

The 22-year-old will have pressure on him, though, to continue his stellar play in the league.

The Texans supplied Stroud with Pro Bowl players Stefon Digg and Joe Mixon in the offseason.

As for Williams, he is one of the most touted prospects in recent memory.

The 22-year-old won the Heisman Trophy in 2022.

It's not clear when Williams will make his preseason debut.

But when the rookie arrives on the field for the first time, the Bears have plenty of weaponry for him.

D.J. Moore, Keenan Allen, and 2024 first-round pick Odunze lead the team's wide receiver room.

The Bears also have an experienced tight end room led by Cole Kmet, Gerald Everett, and Marcedes Lewis.

Chicago is coming off a 7-10 season as they've failed to make the playoffs the last three seasons.
