ESPN’s Joe Tessitore ‘honored and blessed’ to begin new career with WWE as broadcasting debut date revealed

Fans welcome the new voice calling WWE

ESPN broadcaster Joe Tessitore will begin his WWE broadcasting career next month.

Tessitore, a longtime college football play-by-play broadcaster, will start on WWE program Monday Night Raw on September 2nd.

WWE's SummerSlam on Saturday included a three-hour preshow.

And during that, Tessitore joined current Monday Night Raw play-by-play man Michael Cole to discuss his future plans.

“I want to make an announcement tonight,” Cole said.

“Joe is actually going to start on Monday Night Raw. Monday, September 2nd, in Denver, Colorado, will be Joe’s first show.

"I’ll be shifting over to Friday Night Smackdown on USA (Network). It’s gonna be exciting.”

Tessitore, who has been a familiar voice for US sports fans for decades, said he was “blessed and honored” to be a part of the WWE now.

“It’s great to be here Michael,” Tessitore said.

“Folks, Let me say this, you haven’t lived until you have come through this entryway with Michael Cole at SummerSlam.

"The place goes crazy already. You are a living legend, my friend.”

Tessitore will team up with Corey Graves to describe the RAW action.

He is well known for working for many years on college football.

He also led ESPN's coverage of Monday Night Football in the past.

And he has called big events for ABC too, including NFL playoff games on Wild Card Weekend.

Many fans have welcomed the move on X, the site formerly known as Twitter.

"A huge pickup for @WWE - I love hearing him call football games and his analytics of the game," one fan said.

The Monday Night RAW action on September 2nd will come from the Chase Center in San Francisco.

The following week's show will be at the Enterprise Center in St. Louis.
