And his first-round rookie receiver Malik Nabers was involved on Tuesday, trading punches with Kerby Joseph.

New York running back Devin Singletary ran over to support his teammate and appeared to throw a punch of his own.

"Basically had to cut the last period of practice short because of guys on both sides throwing punches, #Lions running over to #Giants sideline. Khalil Dorsey and Kayvon Thibodeaux exchange late blows."

Most fans were delighted to see so much passion from their team this week.

"I'm totally fine with it. Needed to see some passion," posted one.

"Pat you’re the only person who thinks this is embarrasing. Giants finally got some dawgs LFG," added another.

"This is a win for the giants. last year there were no fight and we didn’t look competitive this year they showed heart and intensity," a third said.

In footage widely shared online, Jones appears to shove Lions lineman Alim McNeill, sparking an all-out melee.

"I appreciate [Daboll's support]," Jones told reporters after practice.

"That's not something that typically happens in a practice situation.

"But it's a competitive practice, and guys are going hard."

"Daniel got jiggy with it. Daniel was out there with it?" Giants edge rusher Brian Burns added after the chaotic scenes.

"Yeah. I'm going to need him to back up. Let his O-line handle that.
