TOM Brady has credited the TB12 Method for his long and illustrious career in the NFL.

Now Chicago Bears quarterback Caleb Williams is looking to follow in Brady's footsteps by adopting the lifestyle program ahead of his rookie season.

The No. 1 NFL Draft pick has already been in contact with Brady's former trainer, Alex Guerrero, as he gets ready for life in the pros.

“I know Caleb has talked to Alex quite a few times on the phone," former NFL wideout TJ Houshmandzadeh told FS1's Speak.

"They’ve talked a lot some hours on the phone on things you should do, things you should look for."

The TB12 Method takes its name from Brady's initials and his jersey number.

It has been co-created by Brady and Guerrero, a controversial self-taught exercise guru.

The lifestyle plan incorporates “a series of healthy daily habits across five pillars: pliability, nutrition, hydration, movement and mental fitness."

Its diet plan is mostly plant-based and organic, designed to reduce inflammation and enhance recovery.

The diet encourages 80% of foods to be organic, including fruits, vegetables, nuts, seeds, whole grains, and legumes.

Grass-fed, organic meat and hormone- and antibiotic-free poultry make up the remaining 20%, along with wild-caught fish and seafood.

A number of items are banned, including alcohol, breakfast cereals, condiments such as ketchup, caffeine, fruit juice, salty snacks such as chips and pretzels, sugary snacks such as cookies and cakes, and processed meats.

In an interview with Boston.com, Brady's personal chef, Allen Campbell, provided a glimpse into Brady's healthy lifestyle.

"No white sugar. No white flour. No MSG. I'll use raw olive oil, but I never cook with olive oil," Campbell said.

"I only cook with coconut oil. Fats like canola oil turn into trans fats. ... I use Himalayan pink salt as the sodium. I never use iodized salt.

"[Tom] doesn't eat nightshades, because they're not anti-inflammatory. So no tomatoes, peppers, mushrooms, or eggplants.

"Tomatoes trickle in every now and then, but just maybe once a month. I'm very cautious about tomatoes. They cause inflammation.

"What else? No coffee. No caffeine. No fungus. No dairy.

"The kids eat fruit. Tom, not so much. He will eat bananas in a smoothie. But otherwise, he prefers not to eat fruits."

Brady revealed that he drank up to two-and-a-half gallons of water a day during his career.

"TB12 is simple: Drink at least one-half of your body weight in ounces of water every day," Brady wrote in his book The TB12 Method.

"That's the minimum. Ideally, you'll drink more than that, and with added electrolytes, too.

"This makes sense, considering the composition of our bodies."

Brady even cited his water consumption as a reason why he doesn't get sunburned.

"These days, even if I get an adequate amount of sun, I won’t get a sunburn, which I credit to the amount of water I drink," he wrote.

"I always hydrate afterward, too, to keep my skin from peeling."

The Tom Brady domino effect

Tom Brady will take his seat in Fox's top NFL announce team alongside Kevin Burkhardt.

And his arrival at the network has set off a domino effect with every other announcer moving down one spot.

That means Fox's NFL coverage in 2024 will feature entirely new broadcast pairings.

Greg Olsen, who previously worked alongside Burkhardt, will now be part of the No. 2 announce team with Joe Davis.

The other Fox pairings for 2024 are:

  • Adam Amin-Mark Sanchez
  • Kenny Albert-Jon Vilma
  • Kevin Kugler-Daryl Johnston
  • Chris Myers-Mark Schlereth

In an interview with ESPN, Brady credited Guerrero's "genius" for his recovery from a devastating 2008 knee injury and for helping him to achieve the peak "pliability".

Brady also said that Guerrero "has been a huge, huge reason" why he was still playing well into his forties.

In an interview with ESPN's Courtney Cronin, Williams revealed he's already implementing Brady's diet, which includes no white rice, white flour, red sauce, sugar, and more.

"Obviously he has the knowledge of 22 years, however long he played, of playing ball and being healthy," Williams said of Brady.

"That's ultimately what I'm trying to reach, is to play that long, play as long as I can and be healthy throughout all of it.

"A big part of it is the diet and working out and how you work out. And then getting on the field the mental part, the physical part takes over.

"But the things that I can control, control those things, which is my diet and that's a big key to be able to play for such a long time."
