Curry hit multiple clutch three-pointers to seal the game against France and earn Team USA their fifth gold medal in a row.

When asked on First Take about how it ranked amongst some iconic moments in sports history, Orlovsky called it one of the best.

"I think it's right up there with some of the best sports moments of the last couple generations," Orlovsky said.

"I think these sports moments have to be defined as, you remember exactly where you were and exactly who you were with when they happened.

"I mean, that shot goes down and I remember watching my son, Hunter, jump up and go 'oh my gosh!' and my son, Noah, fall to the ground, and my daughter scream and yell.

Orlovsky compared the moment to some of Tiger Woods' best shots during his prime on the PGA Tour.

He also remembered some iconic Super Bowl moments including the New England Patriots.

"Like, I remember exactly where I was when Tiger made that chip in on 16 at Augusta years ago," Orlovsky said.

"I remember exactly what happened and who I was with."

"I remember the Malcolm Butler interception for the Patriots in the Super Bowl."

Orlovsky shared that all of those moments are so special and havea different feeling, which he thinks Curry's moment had too.

"These moments, they almost make us go like 'there's no way that just happened,'" Orlovsky said.

"I just think it's one of those moments that we can put up at the very top with some of the most iconic over the last couple generations."

After winning the gold medal, Team USA head coach Steve Kerr shared how special Curry is to be able to make those shots.

"I've seen that from Steph a few times but it never gets old," Kerr said.

First Take viewing figures

First Take went from strength to strength under the guidance of Stephen A. Smith and Molly Qerim last year.

The weekday ESPN debate show averaged 496,000 viewers in 2023 - making it the most-watched year in program history.

Its December average of 611,000 was a 24% year-on-year increase compared to 2022.

The show also reported more than 250 million views on YouTube.

First Take was helped by the addition of Shannon Sharpe alongside Smith and Qerim after he left Fox Sports' Undisputed.

"It's a global game with a lot of great players, but we still feel we have the greatest players."

Curry also shared the confidence he had in himself when taking those shots.

"Before every shot you take, you think it's going in," Curry said.

"All I saw was the rim. I didn't see who was in front of me. I knew it was kind of a late clock situation, but that one impressed myself."
