REDD THE ROOM

Jets release brutal statement on Haason Reddick requesting NFL trade just months after arriving from Eagles

Reddick's exit from the Eagles seemed to have been caused by a contract dispute similar to the one he's going through with the Jets

THE New York Jets released a strongly-worded response shortly after linebacker Haason Reddick requested a trade on Monday.

The former first-round NFL pick arrived at MetLife Stadium in an April trade from the Philadelphia Eagles.

But tensions quickly started to rise between the two sides.

Reddick, 29, has been holding out of Jets training camp due to a contract dispute.

The standoff escalated at the start of the week with the two-time Pro Bowler asking the team to be traded.

But New York doesn't appear willing to grant 6-foot-1 linebacker's wish.

"We have informed Haason that we will not trade him," Jets general manager Joe Douglas said in a statement.

"That he is expected to be here with his teammates, and that he will continue to be fined per the CBA if he does not report."

"Since the trade discussions back in March we have been clear, direct, and consistent with our position.

"Our focus will remain on the guys we have here as we prepare for the regular season."

Reddick's Eagles exit seemed to have been caused by his desire to sign a new deal too.

He publically expressed his hopes to get an extension with Philadelphia back in February, less than two months before the franchise sent him to New York for a conditional third-round pick.

Around the same time, reports claimed that Philly granted him permission to seek a move to another team.

Reddick noted that he had not asked for a trade, though.

"I would like to get an extension done here at home," he told NFL insider Jordan Schultz.

"This is home for me. I was born and raised here.
