GOOD Morning Football host Peter Schrager says the Hasson Reddick contract standoff is bad "on both sides."

The New York Jets gave the Philadelphia Eagles a conditional third-round pick for the superstar edge rusher in April.

Reddick, 29, is already demanding a trade after failing to agree a bumper contract extension.

And Schrager thinks both parties have lost out after taking a "leap of faith."

"Hasson made it pretty obvious and clear that he wanted one of those huge contract extensions, the Eagles weren't willing to give it," said the GMFB star.

"The Jets got him for 60 cents on the dollar, a conditional third-round pick.

"I think the assumption any time you make a trade for a guy who's asking for a trade from somewhere else, that deal is locked up and done before you even see him walk in the building.

"Hasson did not get that, he took a bit of a risk, the Jets took a bit of a risk."

Schrager explained that Reddick's agent Tory Dandy is a shrewd operator who secured deals for talented wideouts Deebo Samuel and A.J. Brown.

He added that Dandy is not afraid to take negotiations to the wire.

There may not be much trade interest for Reddick with most teams having passed on a move earlier this year and allocated much of their salary cap.

With the season under a month away, both player and team face being stuck with each other.

"This is bad on both sides," continued Schrager.

"They did a leap of faith that it would get done."

The Jets released a strongly-worded response shortly after Reddick, who is holding out of camp, requested a trade on Monday.

"We have informed Haason that we will not trade him," Jets general manager Joe Douglas said in a statement.

"That he is expected to be here with his teammates, and that he will continue to be fined per the CBA if he does not report.

"Since the trade discussions back in March we have been clear, direct, and consistent with our position.

"Our focus will remain on the guys we have here as we prepare for the regular season."

Reddick has one year left on his current deal, worth $14.25 million in base pay – but the money is not guaranteed.

He logged 11 sacks, 38 tackles, and 23 QB hits for the Eagles during the 2023 regular season.
