New York Jets ‘absolutely’ can’t win division without Haason Reddick, says First Take star replacing Stephen A. Smith
Jets bullish in their response to disaffected linebacker
ESPN star Shae Cornette has insisted the New York Jets cannot win their division this season if Haason Reddick is not in the team.
With Stephen A. Smith away from First Take, Cornette has happily taken on the mantle of delivering hot takes.

And she is pretty adamant with her views on the Jets ahead of the 2024 NFL season.
Reddick has so far held out of training camp and now reportedly wants to be traded from the Jets.
The team has been bullish in its response to those reports.
"We have informed Haason that we will not trade him, that he is expected to be here with his teammates, and that he will continue to be fined per the CBA if he does not report," Jets general manager Joe Douglas said.

"Since the trade discussions back in March we have been clear, direct and consistent with our position.
"Our focus will remain on the guys we have here as we prepare for the regular season."
Cornette believes that if the Jets take to the field without linebacker Reddick this season, their hopes will be seriously damaged.
"They can absolutely not win their division without Haason Reddick," she said.

"The only sure best of this entire Jets team is their defense.
"This is what we hang our hat on if you are a Jets fan or someone that follows the Jets closely, is the fact their defense has been ranked so highly the last few years.

"What we haven't proven yet, is your quarterback going to be ok?
"Quite frankly, you aren't even sure if your head coach is ok yet. You haven't seen the results of that yet.
"If you're going to hang your hat on a defense that doesn't have a pass rusher, that you absolutely need in terms of a veteran presence.
"How could you be sure that they're going to go out and win the division when your only sure bet now is up in the air?
"If you look at pass rushers, or players that had ten or more sacks over the last four seasons, there's two people - Myles Garrett and Haasson Reddick. That's the list.
"He has shown that he himself can take the defense to another level.

The 29-year-old recorded 11 sacks and 38 tackles in 17 games last season.
