Dallas Cowboys break $10bn franchise value mark in world’s first for sports team with Los Angeles Rams a distant second

DALLAS Cowboys fans haven't had much to cheer about for the last three decades.
But despite their years of frustration, the Cowboys are the first professional sports team to be valued at more than $10 billion.

The Cowboys last won a Super Bowl in January, 1996.
But "America's Team" still has an appeal all of its own.
And in a new list released by Sportico, the Cowboys are a long way ahead of all the other NFL franchises in terms of monetary value.
Dallas is valued at $10.32 billion, a quite staggering number that says a lot for how well supported the team is.

The Los Angeles Rams are ranked second on the list, valued at $7.79 billion.
The Rams have been successful in recent times, winning the Super Bowl in 2022.
Next comes the New York Giants in third at $7.65 billion, with the New England Patriots just below at $7.31 billion and the San Francisco 49ers at $6.86 billion.
The 32 NFL franchises collectively are worth $190 billion, perfectly illustrating the staggering wealth of the NFL.

The Cowboys won two Super Bowls in the 1970s and followed that up with three in their golden decade of the 1990s.
They claimed victory in the NFL's biggest game in 1993, 1994 and 1996.

But the times since have been a frustration for the franchise owned by Jerry Jones.
The Cowboys' last 13 trips to the playoffs have resulted in five wins and 13 losses - and they haven't been past the divisional round.
Last season was a typical story of a fine regular season followed by playoff disappointment.
The Cowboys finished with a 12-5 record, for first place in the NFC East.
But quarterback Dak Prescott and the team had a horrible night in their own stadium on Wild Card Weekend.

With this season's schedule now revealed, eager NFL fans are looking to secure tickets to their favorite games.

Now it's all about a new campaign, with the Cowboys kicking off against the Cleveland Browns next month.
That game is on September 8th, and will be shown on Fox, with Tom Brady making his debut as lead analyst.
