ESPN announces major broadcasting change for US Open tennis with bumper schedule including qualifying rounds

ESPN has shown its intent to provide tennis coverage on its streaming platform

ESPN revealed a broadcasting development for its US Open tennis coverage.

The network will broadcast the entire men's and women's US Open Qualifying tournament next week.

Each of the four days of the men's and women's 2024 US Open Qualifying tournament will be available to stream live on ESPN+, the network's streaming platform.

Fans can also watch both tournaments on ESPNEWS and, for the first time, on ESPN 2.

The men's and women's 2024 US Open Qualifying tournament will take place from Monday, August 19 to Thursday, August 22.

The qualifiers will have 128 men and 128 competing for just 16 slots, respectively, in each of the 2024 US Open singles draws.

ESPN+ will stream all matches from 11 am Eastern until the end of play.

The matches will be on all 14 courts.

ESPN2, meanwhile, will display matches live each day from 11 am to 1 pm.

ESPNNEWS will present matches from 1 pm to 5 pm Eastern.

After the qualifying tournament, ESPN will have exclusive coverage of the 2024 US Open.

That coverage will start on Sunday, August 25.

There will be a special 60-minute SportsCenter program covering the US Open on ESPN2 at 1 pm Eastern.

Among the most notable men in the US Open Qualifying tournament is Switzerland's Stan Wawrinka.

The 39-year-old has won three major singles titles, with the most recent one coming in the 2016 US Open where he beat Novak Djokovic in the final.

Wawrinka hasn't taken part in qualifying at any major tournament since the 2005 French Open.

Canada's Bianca Andreescu, meanwhile, headlines the most notable women in the US Open Qualifying tournament.

She won the 2019 US Open.

Andreescu made the third round at both the French Open and Wimbledon this year.

Last year, she suffered a back injury which forced a nine-month absence.
