But Orton, 44, admitted he may have set his sights too high when trying to land the gig as Cable.

Hollywood superstar Josh Brolin ended up being cast in the $786 million blockbuster that was released in 2018.

Orton appeared on fellow wrestler Cody Rhodes' What Do You Wanna Talk About podcast and revealed his ambitions.

“So I do auditions here and there,” he said.

“I remember I got an audition early on when I finally got some representation in that industry.

"And I think Deadpool 2, I read for Cable. In my head, boy, I was gonna be Cable. I was gonna be Cable. I was like ‘this is it.’

"Nope. No call back, no nothing. Yeah, thanks.

"Josh Brolin gets. Of course, Josh Brolin gets it, kills it. I don’t know what the ‘f***’ I’m doing.

"I think I kinda realized then, I can send in these auditions, but I’m a pro wrestler.

"Ya know, and I think I really enjoy being a pro wrestler and everything that it’s given me. I don’t think I’ll ever leave this place.”

Orton spent over two decades in WWE before taking an 18-month hiatus in 2022.

In November of the same year, he underwent double-fusion back surgery.

Throughout his absence, Orton's wrestling future was questioned by both his fans and fellow wrestlers.

At the time, his father, Bob Orton, told Sportskeeda, "I don't think he needs to.

Travis Kelce the actor

NFL star Travis Kelce has apparently landed his first major acting role.

The Kansas City Chiefs tight end plans to become a "heavyweight" figure in music and entertainment.

Kelce has seen his star power rise after going public with his girlfriend Taylor Swift last summer.

The 34-year-old has now been cast in the new horror series Grotesquerie.

Directed by American Horror Story creator Ryan Murphy, the drama is set to land on FX this fall.

Kelce will appear in the show alongside Niecy Nash-Betts, Courtney B. Vance, and Lesley Manville.

On Tuesday, Nash-Betts appeared to confirm Kelce's involvement with a surprise Instagram reveal.

"This is what happens when WINNERS link up" she captioned a clip featuring Kelce in a backstage dressing room.

"He's training, so we'll see what happens. I don't know.

"If he feels like he's ready to go back, I think he might. But again, he's pretty well taken care of.

"And I think the doctors have told him not to. But Randy will do what Randy wants to do."

But the 14-time world champion felt he had unfinished business and made a comeback last year.

He returned to the ring in November to the surprise of fans.
