And the scan shows just how bad the damage was - a full crack from top to bottom is clearly visible.

In a thrilling scrap in Las Vegas, the pair certainly put on a show under the lights as Usman defended the UFC welterweight title with a fifth-round stoppage.

The referee waved off the bout with 50 seconds remaining after Covington was dropped to the canvas twice.

American Covington was left battered and bruised but showed incredible bravery after the UFC confirmed he had been fighting the last two rounds with a broken jaw.

JAWS OF DEFEAT

He even claimed referee Marc Goddard had stopped the fight too early.

TV cameras picked up the exact moment Covington suffered the fracture after Usman clocked him with a fierce right jab to the face.

The 31-year-old told his corner that he believed his jaw was broken and was taken to the hospital immediately after the fight for an X-ray.

SunSport has since reported that Covington, who is a big Donald Trump fan, has been suspended from fighting for 180 days by the UFC after suffering the horror injury.

Usman will also sit the same period of time out of action after he injured his left thumb in the scrap.

Covington's record in the UFC is now 10-2, while Usman remains welterweight champion and undefeated at 11-0.
