Tyson Fury is bigger in the US than Deontay Wilder – and 2020 will be a ‘monster’ for Gypsy King says promoter Warren

TYSON FURY’S February 22 fight with Deontay Wilder will be confirmed next week — with a THIRD fight in the mix for the summer.

But the news will come as a hammer blow to WBA, IBF and WBO champion Anthony Joshua, who wants to decide an undisputed king next year.

AJ’s need for mandatory bouts against Kubrat Pulev and Oleksandr Usyk, and the news of Wilder vs Fury 3, kybosh his unification dream until at least 2021.

Last year’s draw between Wilder and Fury was a sensation as the Brit outboxed the American WBC king before two late knockdowns.

Fury’s incredible recovery from the second decking went viral and fans have been desperate to see a rematch ever since.

And the wait is almost over with the Gypsy King packing his bags for Las Vegas to announce the second leg of the trilogy.

Promoter Frank Warren told SunSport: “Tyson has got himself into a great position in America with the two fights he had over there.

“People thought they were easy fights but the motive was to build his profile and, with his WWE appearances, he is probably better known in America than Wilder.

“The fight next year will be a monster and Tyson will confirm himself as world No 1. Then they will have a rubber match.”

Fury started training last week but then split with trainer, friend and psychologist Ben Davison.

SunSport understands the 31-year-old wanted to add another trainer to his corner and Davison could not work in the new regime.

And Warren has seen enough to believe his man is bang on track.

He added: “They have parted amicably — I think Tyson wanted to bring someone in a bit more experienced.

“He is the one who has to feel comfortable. Mentally, he’s in a very good place.”
