However, the 66-year-old has now fuelled rumours he could be set for a sensational in-ring comeback after returning to his iconic horseshoe moustache.

Hogan, arguably the most-famous wrestler on the planet, was the driving force behind WWE's global explosion as Hulkamania ran wild throughout the 1980s and early 90s.

The veteran Hall of Famer was famed for his signature red and yellow attire that was complemented by his blonde hair and moustache.

But Hogan -real name Terry Bollea - last competed inside the squared-circle for TNA in 2013 and has since let his greying hair grow wildly.

And he has now revealed to fans that he has finally trimmed his bushy white beard after being mocked for looking like Father Christmas.

Hogan tweeted: "I think it’s probably time to shave, too many people calling me Santa or saying “we like me better with a beard or wanting to confess their sins to me, the Zeus look definitely needs to come down a notch brother HH."

Some fans mourned the loss of the new shaggy Hogan, with many referencing the wrestling great's 'Whatcha gonna do' catchphrase.

One tweeted: "Whatchya gonna do when Zeusamania runs wild on you brother?!!"

Another said: "Whatcha gonna do, if Santa has no presents for you?"

A third added: "If there's one person on this Earth that could pull off looking like Zeus. It's Hulk Hogan."

I told Vince, ‘When I get through this back surgery, I’m going to get in the best shape of my life and we’re going to talk about me having one last retirement match’

Hogan's return to his former WWE look is likely to hype fans even more about the wrestler's potential appearance at Super ShowDown this month.

The retired star also has his eyes on one last wrestling match at WrestleMania 36 - a rematch against Vince McMahon following their epic battle in 2003.

He told the Los Angeles Times: "I talked to Vince, and I said I really don’t know if I could live with myself knowing my last match was with TNA. If I can get fixed, I pray I can have one more match.

“I told Vince, ‘When I get through this back surgery, I’m going to get in the best shape of my life and we’re going to talk about me having one last retirement match’.

"I’d love for it to be against Vince. I had such a great time with him in the ring at WrestleMania 19. I had no idea what to expect from him, but he’s a great bad guy. His timing is great.

"I loved wrestling him, but everything he does hurts. When you’re in the ring with someone and they’re hurting you, you kind of pinch them on the wrist, and the whole match I was doing that to Vince.

“I was like, ‘Vince, take it easy!’ Everything he does hurts, but I’d like to get in the ring with him one more time for my last match. That would be perfect.”
