BILLY JOE SAUNDERS’ latest Canelo audition got the Hollywood ending he desperately needed.
The WBO super-middleweight king needed a dominant performance in Los Angeles, on the Logan Paul vs KSI rematch undercard, to impress on his US debut and lure the Mexican pound-for-pound superstar into a 2020 war.

But he was dragged into the 11th round of a dull fight against unknown Marcelo Esteban Coceres and only stole the scene with three knockdowns inside the late session just as boos were beginning to ring out.
A beautiful uppercut was the best punch of the night that contributed to Coceres’ first defeat in 30 fights.
Saunders and Canelo now share an American broadcaster in DAZN and Canelo’s coach Eddy Reynoso was reportedly ringside eyeing up the Hatfield Traveller.
After flying in just five days out from the fight and battling jet lag before the bout, Saunders said: “There is no excuse, that performance was not worthy of Canelo, Danny Jacobs or any of the big fights.
“No excuses but I only had five days preparation here and I knew from round nine that I had to get him out of there because everything was off, my timing and accuracy was all off.
“I have had these sort of fights before when I have had to let my opponent gas and tire to get them out.
