WWE star Bianca Belair talks Ronda Rousey dream match, John Cena advice, Vince McMahon mentoring and Becky Lynch loss

WWE superstar Bianca Belair is eyeing a dream match with UFC legend Ronda Rousey.

Rousey made a shock return last month when she won the women's Royal Rumble Match and is now set to challenge Charlotte Flair for the SmackDown Women's Championship at WrestleMania 38.

Belair, on the other hand, is going for the RAW Women's Championship as she is ready to compete in a No1 Contender's match at Elimination Chamber this Saturday.

The 'EST' of WWE will face Rhea Ripley, Nikki A.S.H., Liv Morgan, Doudrop and a surprise opponent at the Jeddah Super Dome in Saudi Arabia.

Therefore, it is unlikely that the two athletes will face off in the near future - but the former SmackDown Women's Champion believes a fight will eventually happen.

Belair told SunSport while speaking at BT Sport’s Enter The Universe event: "In WWE the possibilities are endless and no matter what, you’re always going to meet everyone eventually in the ring.

"I love competition, I crave competition, I don’t run from competition. [I will take on] Any opportunity to prove I am the EST of WWE. I am the strongEST, I’m the toughEST and I’m the roughEST.

"I will say as long as Ronda Rousey is in WWE and I’m in WWE that possibility is on the table and I do think that it will eventually happen in the future. And I can’t wait for it."

Belair enjoyed a tremendous debut year on the main roster ever since joining from NXT in 2020 as she won the women's Royal Rumble Match and main-evented the first night of WrestleMania 37.

The 32-year-old star beat Sasha Banks for the SmackDown Women's Championship but endured a shock loss at SummerSlam.

The American grappler was beaten by the returning Becky Lynch in just 26 seconds, but she used that shortcoming as an important learning curve.

Belair added: "Everything happened very quickly. Very, very, very last minute. To the point where all you can do is roll with the punches and go with it.

"For me it was just about checking my perspective. I looked at it as an opportunity to showcase who Bianca Belair is without a title and show that I’m still the EST of WWE without the title and try to figure out a way to come out on top.

"I want to be a part of every big moment I want my name to come up in the room in conversations when they [discuss] ‘who can we put in this moment and trust them to fulfil this role?’

"So whether it is main-eventing WrestleMania and winning and walking as champion or going to SummerSlam and losing in 26 seconds, my name comes up in that conversation as someone that can be trusted and to make people feel something and come out on top still."

Belair learned that important lesson after a heart-to-heart chat backstage with WWE hero John Cena, who had some important advice for her.

She said: "His advice for me was about perspective and coming out on top. So he said, ‘Just keep your perspective where it can actually propel you’.

"And he said this is your opportunity to showcase who you are without a title and get the fans behind you. I use it as fuel now cause I know how it feels to go to WrestleMania and main event.

"I know how it feels to be champion. But I also know how it feels to have it taken from me."

That's not the only crucial advice Belair has received in WWE as she also learned how to adapt while working for WWE Chairman and CEO Vince McMahon, who inspired her with the way he handled the pandemic and the lack of fans.

Belair said: "I think Vince is a genius. Best piece of advice from him is always be adaptable.

"It’s amazing what WWE did during the pandemic with he ThunderDome. Being able to adapt and still give the fans the experience as if they’re still there. That’s very relatable το what we do in wrestling when things change.
