WWE bans controversial ‘buckle bomb’ after Nia Jax botched move in match against Kairi Sane on Raw

WWE have reportedly banned wrestlers from using the buckle bomb after Nia Jax botched the move in a match against Kairi Sane on Raw.

PWInsider reported that the controversial spot will no longer be seen in the company after several high profile injuries.

Jax, real name Savelina Fanene, was recently accused of being “dangerous” in the ring after she threw Kairi Sane headfirst into the turnbuckle.

The 35-year-old further angered fans by tweeting after the incident: "Since @KairiSaneWWE can’t anything about it, maybe @RondaRousey would like to try #Samoan4Real."

The buckle bomb was once regularly utilised as a part of Seth Rollins' arsenal but the former Shield member abandoned the move following heavy criticism from two high profile incidents.

Hall of Famer Sting suffered a career-ending neck injury after taking the move at Night Of Champions in 2015.

While Finn Balor tore his labrum and was forced to relinquish the Universal Championship after taking the move during a match with the Monday Night Messiah at Summerslam a year later.

Following the news that the buckle bomb has now been banned, former WWE Cruiserweight Champion Shane Helms - The Hurricane - claimed that moves aren't inherently dangerous.

He tweeted: "I did the Vertebreaker, arguably the most dangerous move in the business and never hurt anyone.  It’s not the move, it’s the execution."

WWE have banned moves in the past, most notably, the piledriver back in 1997 after Stone Cold Steve Austin broke his neck taking the move.

John Cena and CM Punk had to get special permission from Vince McMahon to use the spot during their feud.

While Rollins saw his former finisher the Curb Stomp temporarily banned before he was allowed to bring the move back.
