Travis Kelce hits back at Aaron Rodgers over ‘Mr Pfizer’ remark after engaging in ‘vax war’ with NFL quarterback

TRAVIS Kelce has fired back at Aaron Rodgers' recent swipe at his decision to star in a Pfizer vaccine commercial.

Following the Kansas City Chiefs' 23-20 win over the New York Jets in Week 4, Rodgers appeared on The Pat McAfee Show to discuss his team's narrow loss.

During his interview, the 39-year-old quarterback noted how the Jets' defense was able to limit Kelce's impact on the game, commenting: "Mr. Pfizer, we kind of shut him down a little bit."

The sly dig was met with hysterical laughter from McAfee, who later asked Rodgers: "How good did that feel coming out?

"Mr. Pfizer, you've been planning on that?"

Rodgers responded by saying: "No. I mean, he's doing commercials for Pfizer. I'm sure he's owning it."

Now, Kelce has had his say on his new nickname.

Speaking to the media on Friday, he said: "I thought it was pretty good. I mean with the mustache right now I look like a guy named Mr. Pfizer.

"Who knew I'd get into the vax wars with Aaron Rodgers?"

Clearly making light of the situation, Kelce commented: "Mr. Pfizer versus the Johnson & Johnson family over there" - in reference to Woody Johnson, the owner of the Jets and the heir to Johnson & Johnson pharmaceuticals.

It was obvious by his tone that Kelce wasn't the least bit bothered by Rodgers' comments.

When asked about his decision to participate in the commercial, he explained that he had received the vaccine with the goal of "keeping myself safe, keeping my family safe, the people in this building.

"So yeah, I stand by it a thousand percent. And [I'm] fully comfortable with him calling me Mr. Pfizer."

By comparison, Rodgers is unvaccinated.

His vaccination status proved controversial in 2021 when he told the media he was "immunized," following which he went on to contract Covid-19, prompting his vaccination status to go public, per CBS Sports.

In a subsequent interview with McAfee, Rodgers explained that his decision not to receive the vaccine was due to being allergic to an ingredient in the mRNA vaccine.

The alternative was to receive the Johnson & Johnson vaccine, which he turned down as he knew some "who have had adverse events around getting the J&J."

Rodgers had also been left concerned when the vaccine was "pulled for clotting issues."
