Who is Lindy Ruff's wife Gaye?

Lindy has been married to Gaye Ruff since 1985.

Details on Gaye's personal life are unclear at this time because she often stays out of the spotlight.

However, her Facebook page states that she went to college at the University of Alberta, which is located in Lindy's hometown.

It is not known how the pair met or when they officially tied the knot.

How many kids do Lindy and Gaye Ruff have?

Did Lindy Ruff play in the NHL?

Lindy has been behind an NHL bench since the early 1990s.

He began coaching during the 1993-94 season as an assistant with the Florida Panthers.

The Jack Adams Award winner spent four seasons with the Panthers before becoming the head coach of the Sabres in 1997.

He has since gone on to coach the Dallas Stars and New Jersey Devils, becoming the fifth-winningest coach in league history.

Most fans know Lindy for his coaching abilities, but what some might not know is that he was once a player in the NHL.

The Buffalo Sabres drafted Lindy in the second round, as 32nd overall in 1979. He spent 12 seasons in the league as a defenseman.

In addition to playing for the Sabres, he also had a brief stint with the New York Rangers.

How long did Lindy Ruff coach the New Jersey Devils?

On March 4, 2024, the New Jersey Devils fired Lindy Ruff as their head coach.

The team's associate coach, Travis Green, was named the interim head coach.

In a statement, general manager Tom Fitzgerald said, "I hold our entire organization to the highest levels of accountability to focus on being a competitive team that expects to be a perennial playoff contender.”

“Unfortunately, we are not currently at that level, and I needed to make this decision," he said of Lindy's firing.

While he has been coaching hockey for 31 years, Lindy spent four of those years with the Devils.

On April 22, 2024, Ruff was re-hired as the head coach of the Buffalo Sabres, replacing Don Granato.

Ruff previously coached the team from 1997 to 2013.

"I am thankful to [Sabres owner] Terry [Pegula], the Pegula family, and [general manager] Kevyn Adams for this opportunity," Ruff said, as reported by the NHL.

The Sabres will face off against Ruff's former team, the Devils, at the 2024 NHL Global Series Czechia at the O2 Arena in Prague on October 4, 2024.
