ALARMING ALTERCATION

Charlotte Hornets’ Miles Bridges had ‘showdown’ in tense exchange with ex-wife leaving ‘friends fearing for his future’

MILES Bridges has been told to get his life in order or risk destroying his NBA career once and for all.

The wayward Charlotte Hornets forward could be suspended by the League once again following an alleged bust-up with ex-girlfriend Mychelle Johnson, which violated a protective order that was already in place.

Last April, he was banned for 30 games and missed the rest of last season after being accused of choking his former partner and breaking her nose, while also leaving her concussed.

He pled no contest to felony domestic violence in November and was sentenced to three years of probation with no jail time.

The case involved the mother of his two kids, who accused the 25-year-old of assaulting her in front of them.

This week, Mecklenburg County Sheriff’s Office issued a criminal summons that alleged he hurled billiard balls at a car during a custody exchange.

According to the summons, the windshield was smashed and the exterior of the vehicle was damaged.

It also states that Bridges threatened his ex-wife and would "take everything from her and withold child support" if the cops were called.

He turned himself in 48 hours later on Friday.

One onlooker described to The U.S Sun how Bridges appeared "very, very stressed" when he met his former partner for the exchange and began trading insults with her.

Bridges, who is currently serving a 10-game ban, then allegedly attacked the car, and was heard to be ranting about wanting to see his kids.

"He threatened her, things could have gone down," said the source.

The summons also includes accusations of misdemeanor child abuse and the nightmare scenario has only served to ramp up tensions at the Hornets, with one senior member of the front office telling The U.S. Sun that the situation is the "most tense" he's ever experienced in over 15 years in the game.

And a former team-mate of Bridges is hoping his old friend doesn't ruin his career by being sucked into the "toxic" darkness of his off-court drama and getting kicked out of the NBA for good.

"This has to stop," the friend said.

"The custody situation has to be solved and things have to move forward for them. I feel sometimes that Miles forgot about some basic things in life, how he has to be a great dad and also a great athlete because he has a gift. I don’t want him to mess it up."

The nightmare scenario unfolding with Bridges has just added to the troubles suffered by the Hornets during the pre-season.

NBA legend Michael Jordan ended his 13-year association with the franchise in August after selling his majority stake for $3 billion - a superb piece of business after buying the team for $275 million in 2010, while injury problems haven't helped either.

Jordan still remains a minority owner - but the mood at the Hornets is one of uncertainty, with the new season less than two weeks away.

"Jordan saw what a mess the team is," said the source. "He was fed up with not getting results."
