Late in overtime, with the Hornets down 111-110, Holiday defended Ball as he drove towards his teammate Miles Bridges.

As Ball approached the pick, the Hornets guard quickly threw the basketball ball behind his back, allowing Holiday to run into the screen and fall to the ground before driving to the rim for a layup to take the lead 112-111.

However, NBA fans rushed to X, formerly Twitter, with many claiming Ball pushed off and that the move should have resulted in an offensive foul.

One said: "But he pushed off, and Jrue tripped on LaMelo's shoe..."
