EYE'M STILL HERE

Tyson Fury has taken ‘bangs’ to eye injury in WWE training and still needs two months to fully recover from horror gash

TYSON FURY is hoping his eye injury won't flare up when fighting Braun Strowman in WWE despite still being two months away from a full recovery.

Thursday's Crown Jewel showcase in Saudi Arabia sees the boxer step into the wrestling ring while nursing a problematic cut that needed 45 stitches.

It was inflicted by Otto Wallin in Fury's surprisingly testing match-up with the Swede in Las Vegas last month.

And his plan to fight Deontay Wilder in February may be derailed if his training blows are anything to go by.

Fury told Metro: "I’ve had a couple bangs on the eye in training.

"It seems to be holding up alright. I’ve been told one per cent each day.

"Fifteen days of September and 25 days of October. Forty days… so sixty days left and I’m fully recovered."

The eye injury has forced Fury to take precautions in training with Wilder in mind.

And, even before the WWE crossover was announced, the 31-year-old was told by some to delay the WBC title fight and let it heal.

He added: "I train every day. Even the day after the fight I was flat out in the gym with the cut.

"I’m just not talking punches in boxing training. It’s just cardio and weights, strength training [at the moment]."

Fury and Strowman weighed in for their WWE contest on Wednesday.

Coming in at nine stone lighter than his 385lb opponent, the Gypsy King was pictured limping onto the scales.
