West Ham want Bournemouth stopper Asmir Begovic after recent keeper crisis
WEST HAM are interested in out-of-favour Bournemouth goalkeeper Asmir Begovic.
The Hammers are looking to offload calamity ‘keeper Roberto in January and to bring in an experienced stopper to provide back up and a challenge for Lukasz Fabianski.
The Pole is due to return from injury in the New Year.
Derby, Birmingham and PSV Eindhoven are also monitoring the situation of Begovic, who is coming to the end of a loan spell at Azerbaijani club Qarabag.
The deal expires on December 31 and the Bosnia international is keen to join a new club, on either a temporary or permanent basis.
The Bosnian fell out of favour with Bournemouth boss Eddie Howe after a series of underwhelming displays for the Cherries.
Begovic signed from Chelsea for £10million in 2017.
But he will find himself behind Aaron Ramsdale, Artur Boruc and Mark Travers upon his return to Bournemouth.
The 32 year old still has two and a half years to run on his £60,000-per-week contract and any club taking him on loan would be expected to pick up a significant slice of his wages.
Fabianski has been a reliable stopper for the Hammers since joining from Swansea in 2018.
And the former Arsenal man's absence in recent weeks has massively damaged Manuel Pellegrini's side.
Summer arrival Roberto initially stepped into the breach.

But the 33-year-old Spaniard was eventually dropped after a series of woefully poor displays for West Ham.
David Martin, son of Hammers legend Alvin, has been given an unexpected run in the team between the sticks.
But with Roberto likely to be shipped out, West Ham would ideally like to demote Martin back to third choice by bringing in someone new.
