Pogba has not played for the Red Devils since the 1-1 draw with Arsenal on September 20.

He looked set to return in the Carabao Cup against Colchester after making a full recovery from an ankle injury.

But Solskjaer revealed he had been struck down by illness - just days after he was filmed dancing at his brother's wedding.

He has attracted interest from long-term admirers Real Madrid, but Solskjaer has insisted he will not leave Old Trafford.

Solskjaer said: "He is not being sold in January.

"I hope he will play before the end of the year, but I am not going to push him. I can't risk any setbacks."

Reports claimed that Manchester United chiefs feared that Pogba had played his last game for the club.

Sources close to the 26-year-old claim he is keen to leave and has no interest in extending his contract - which has two-and-a-half years to run.

But the Red Devils are not willing to let him force his way out of the club in the upcoming transfer window.
