Bordeaux enter transfer race for Giroud but Chelsea striker has heart set on Inter Milan move

BORDEAUX have entered the race to sign Olivier Giroud - but the Chelsea striker has his heart set on Inter Milan, according to reports.

The Ligue 1 side are hoping they can lure the former Arsenal striker, 33, back to France.

But Giroud's wages will prove a stumbling block, with Inter more likely to pounce in January, say Goal.

Should the World Cup winner head to Italy to join Inter, he would be reunited with former boss Antonio Conte.

Giroud has played just five times in the Premier League this season after slipping behind Tammy Abraham and Michy Batshuayi in the pecking order.

In fact, the former Montpellier striker has made just ONE start since August - a 1-0 loss against West Ham.

And if he does join Inter Milan, he may endure a similar fate - with Romelu Lukaku and Lautaro Martinez both in fine form at the Serie A giants.

Playing time will be a major concern for Giroud, with France's Euro 2020 campaign quickly drawing near.

Giroud has remained a key member of the French squad under Didier Deschamps, despite struggling for game time at both Chelsea and Arsenal in recent years.

The likes of Anthony Martial have missed out at his expense in recent squads as a result.

Former Blues boss Conte is also hoping to bring out-of-favour left-back Marcos Alonso to Inter.

The Spaniard is way down the pecking order under Frank Lampard now and is another high-earning star at around £100,000 a week.

That figure should see a host of clubs deterred, leaving the door open for the Nerazzurri.
