Tottenham transfer news: Spurs tell Wolfsburg they can have Heung-Min Son but must stump up £33m

Bundesliga side launched an offer for Son in the summer which was rejected but South Korean has struggled to cement first-team role

WOLFSBURG haven't conceded defeat in their chase for Tottenham's Heung-Min Son and are set to return with an improved offer in January.

The German side launched £24 million bid for the forward during the summer which was rejected by Spurs with concerns that they would fail to find a replacement.

However according to Bild, Tottenham are willing to let the 24-year-old leave in January if he struggles to break into the first-team but have told Wolfsburg that they won't accept anything under £33m.

Son joined Tottenham in a £21.9m deal 13 months ago but chairman Daniel Levy is known to drive a hard bargain.

Son angered Spurs chiefs when he opted to miss the first two games of the season by featuring for South Korea in the Rio Olympics before being an unused substitute in the 1-1 draw with Liverpool.

He now faces serious competition with the summer signings of exciting winger Georges-Kevin Nkoudou and Moussa Sissoko.

But Son is prepared for a fight for his place in the side having skipped South Korea's World Cup qualifying campaign match against Syria.

Speaking to Sky Sports, he said: "I am in good condition and ready to go and play as well as I can.

"I am sorry to my national team-mates and coach but I will support them and hope they get a good result against Syria."
