And former Fulham and Tottenham boss Jol has just been made technical director.

General manager Mohammed Hamdi has no doubt the combustible pair will form a dream partnership to get the club out of trouble.

He said: “Martin is one of the most prominent Dutch trainers and also a football monument from The Hague.

“It is fantastic that he, together with Alan Pardew and the rest of the staff, wants to do everything to get ADO Den Haag out of this awkward position.

“I am confident that they can do the job. After all, together they have more than five hundred games of experience as manager or coach in the Premier League, the strongest competition in the world.

“That is one of the reasons why Martin can ease the transition from English to Dutch football for Alan.”

Jol came through the club’s youth academy and enjoyed five seasons in the first team before spells at Bayern Munich, West Brom and Coventry.

So he is more than happy to help his childhood club as they battle against relegation.

He said: “Mohammed asked me to help and I am naturally positive about that. Given the current situation, it is really impossible for me not to.

“ADO Den Haag can now use all the support of everyone who cares about the club."
