INCREDIBLE statistics show Daniel James has made a bigger impact at Manchester United after 12 games than Cristiano Ronaldo.

Wales boss Ryan Giggs has even compared the Old Trafford star to the five-time ballon d'Or winner because of their "bravery".

James has been a huge hit for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's side since he joined from Swansea City for £15million this summer.

After 12 games in the English top-flight, he has better stats on paper for United than Ronaldo.

He has scored three goals, made two assists and had eight shots on target in the league this season.

Ronaldo, who joined the Red Devils in 2003 from Sporting CP, managed just one goal, one assist and seven efforts on target.

In fairness, the Portuguese star had played 375 less minutes after 12 games in the club's colours.

Old Trafford veteran Giggs has likened new boy James to Ronaldo because of how they getting treated my defenders.

The 45-year-old said: "Dan takes a lot of knocks but gets up, gets on with it and demands the ball back.

"Ronaldo, especially earlier on his career, took a lot of knocks and would still demand the ball. It shows huge bravery.

"Dan's a fantastic character and great professional.

"It was a physical game. You've got to stand up for yourself.

"You've got to trust in the referee as well that he protects the players.

"Over the years forwards have been more and more protected. But we have a few players who receive nasty treatment because of the quality they possess."

Before he added: "United fans like players who like to attack, who gets the fans off their feet - and he's somebody who does that.

"With the form he's in, he has been outstanding and a constant threat. He's added goals and assists, which is a wingers' game.

"He will get better and better - and I'm pleased for him."
