Luis Enrique not currently interested in Arsenal job with Unai Emery set to stay and board still backing him

LUIS ENRIQUE reportedly has no interest in returning to football at the moment with Arsenal still believed to be backing Unai Emery.

Pressure is mounting on the Gunners boss following their latest setback at Leicester on Saturday.

That made it five games without a win in all competitions and left them eight points off the Premier League’s top four with just 12 matches gone.

Ex-Barcelona and Spain boss Enrique was last week linked with replacing Emery in the Emirates hot-seat, with some news outlets claiming the North London side had already been in contact with the 49-year-old.

However, ESPN report that the Spaniard would not consider a comeback into the dug-out currently.

He has been out of work since leaving his role as national boss for personal reasons in June just months before his nine-year-old daughter died from bone cancer.

Enrique led Barcelona to consecutive La Liga titles during his three years in charge and lifted the 2015 Champions League.

However, ESPN claim that he would rather build a project and “would not like to arrive at a club mid-season”.

They then go on to state that the Arsenal board’s stance over Emery has not changed despite their miserable run of form continuing against the Foxes.

And they even claim “he is unlikely to be sacked this season unless things deteriorate considerably” before the summer.

But, even though he still has the confidence of the Prem club, Arsenal’s head of football Raul Sanllehi is “talking to people about the club's longer-term plans”.
