But with DC set to walk away from the Octagon after the final fight on his current deal, Triple H is hoping to sit down and discuss a switch to the ring with the 41-year-old.

He told TMZ Sports: “I love Daniel. We’ve obviously talked a lot in the past.

"We’ve had conversations about him doing stuff with us in the past whether that’s in-ring or whether that’s commentary or doing different things.

“I think we’d love to do something with him if the time is right — obviously, respectful to UFC and Dana and everything else.

“We’d love to chat with him and we have an open relationship as far as communication so I’m sure shortly we will when he figures out what he wants to do."

Cormier, a lifelong WWE fan, has previously admitted he would be open to a move to WWE once he is retired from the cage.

His friend and former training partner Cain Velasquez last year signed with Vince McMahon, but after just ONE match, against old rival Brock Lesnar, the former UFC champion was axed.

Lesnar won the UFC title in 2010 but two years later moved back to the WWE.

And former UFC superstar Ronda Rousey made the crossover to pro wrestling in 2018, but this year retired with her return still up in the air.

More recently MMA fighters Rashad Evans, Henry Cejudo and Vitor Belfort have all appeared on WWE's rival promotion AEW, working an angle alongside heavyweight boxing legend Mike Tyson.
