Football fans can grab an early look at Cristiano Ronaldo-backed game made to beat FIFA and EA FC

Not only can you play it early but you can play it completely free

EA recently changed the name of the FIFA series following a public break up with the football federation.

Now called EA Sports FC, it doesn’t matter what name EA uses, its games are consistently the most popular with football fans.

For its part the football federation has said it will create its own series under the FIFA name with a new developer, but that is yet to be announced.

The closest any football game has come to taking over EA’s popularity is eFootball from Konami, which formerly published PES.

Many have wanted another option for their football gaming desires far from the dominance of EA.

This has led independent developers to step up to the plate including UFL, an upcoming free-to-play football game backed by Cristiano Ronaldo.

A group of investors including Ronaldo provided $40million in funds for the game, and it’s now entering its open beta phase.

This means that UFL is offering any player on Xbox Series X|S or PS5 the chance to play the game before its release.

UFL doesn’t have a firm release date yet, but it is confirmed to launch in 2024.

If you want to grab a first look at UFL before it launches later this year there are a few steps you need to take.

Firstly, navigate to the UFL store page via your console either through the PlayStation or Microsoft Store.

You can then pre-download the beta version ready for when it goes live.

The beta will last from Friday, June 7, 2024, until Sunday, June 9, 2024, and you can play as much of UFL as you want within this timeframe.

You will be able to play UFL in either single-player mode or in local multiplayer mode, but there will be no online modes during the beta test.
