PLAYSTATION had a great lineup of exclusives for the PS5 in the first half of this year, with titles like Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth, Helldivers 2 and Stellar Blade.

PS5 owners can finally get to play one of the biggest exclusive titles of 2024 completely free, and decide for themeselves if it’s worth purchasing.

Rise of the Ronin launched in March 2024 and it took a few months for the game to finally get a free demo on the PlayStation Store.

Developerd by Team Ninja exclusively for the PS5, the open-world action RPG set in mid-19th-century Japan.

In the game, you play as a ronin, a samurai without a master, taking part in the events that led to the Boshin War, which marked the end of the samurai era around 1868.

Featuring a mix of open-world exploration and challenging combat, the game has been likened to the Assassin’s Creed series but with strong Soulslike elements.

Sitting at a very decent 76/100 score on review aggregator Metacritic, Rise of the Ronin is definitely worth a try, especially now that a demo is available.

Upon launch, the game was slammed by players over performance issues, so the free demo is the perfect opportunity for everyone to try the game and make up their mind.

The demo is free to download for all PS5 players and does not require a PS Plus subscription.

Unlike PS Plus trials, Rise of the Ronin’s demo is not time-limited, but it will end after one of the early boss fights.

Players who try the free demo will be able to carry over their progress into the full game if they choose to purchase it.

To download the Rise of Ronin demo on PS5, open the PS Store on the console, search for the game and then look for the Free Demo option under Editions.

The demo is not a part of a limited-time offer, so it should stay in the store for the forseeable future.
