"Marvel has removed an untitled film set for July 24, 2026 from their release calendar," an X post from Discussing Film read.

"They will now release 3 films in 2026, including 2 untitled films in February and November with ‘AVENGERS: DOOMSDAY’ in May."

Many fans were quick to speculate which film had gotten the hook.

"I assume it will be Spiderman 4 and Doctor Strange 3, Or maybe Shang-Chi 2," one user commented.

"There’s a chance that this might be Armor Wars," a second person hypothesized.

Many on the social media site have speculated that the Disney-owned company axed the fourth installment of the Spider-man franchise due to negotiations with Sony.

Despite many wondering what films had been removed, some X users urged Marvel to use the gap to produce better-quality movies.

"Quality over quantity please Marvel," one person said.

"This is really a good thing. Marvel should take a 'less is more' approach and focus on quality," a second person said.

"Few pics equals better quality usually…good move I suppose," one user wrote sarcastically.

Oscar winner makes shock return to Marvel franchise as evil Doctor Doom in next Avengers movie

The U.S. Sun reached out to Marvel for comment.

Marvel recently saw a huge surge in popularity after it was announced that 2024 Oscar winner Robert Downey Jr. would be returning to the franchise.

The actor, who initially starred as Tony Stark and his superhero alias, Iron Man, is set to return as the villainous Doctor Doom.

Robert's shocking return to the franchise - five years after his character died - was announced last month during San Diego Comic-Con.

His return also comes after the MCU suffered a series of box-office flops including Eternals, Ant-Man: Quantumania and The Marvels.

Robert stepping into the villainous role also helps solve a major headache for Marvel's higher-ups who were looking to bounce back after Jonathan Majors  — who had been due to play major villain Kang — left the franchise after being convicted of domestic abuse.

The unveiling of Robert as Victor Von Doom was rather a dramatic affair.

Several robed and masked figures - Doctor Doom's iconic look - took the stage during a panel at the beloved convention.

Robert, who stood out from the other Dooms in a lime green, hooded suit, and a plum shirt, removed his mask to thunderous applause.

“New mask, same task," Robert said.

The beloved actor is not only appearing in Avengers: Doomsday but will also appear as the antagonist in Secret Wars - both of which will be directed by Joe and Anthony Russo.
